Artist's Comments

I am a huge fan of Strugacki's Brothers "Roadside Picnic" book and the concept of "Zone". I find the atmosphere of Chernobyl Exclusion Zone very close to it, it's my constant inspiration. This picture was created using acrylic paints and ink on paper first. Then, I took it to Photoshop and Painter to add some details and fine tune whole image.

Indeed, Strugacki's Roadside Picnic and Andrei Tarkovsky movie "Stalker" both are so cool!

Love atmosphere in this!

And again, a master peice.

I really love it. Such depth of shadow and feeling. So oppressive.

And I love the worn and broken look to the pylons, they look as if returning to nature...

Excellent work :)

thanks guys. the reference was actually a photo shot in the town i grew up. my brother took the pic. it was some field with black, burnt grass and a road with car trails.

I love this sort of abandoned and bleak look :)
